Irianian, Persian, Bahai & Zoroastrian New Year. Nawruz literally means “New Day". It falls usually with the equinox, as the sun rises over the equatorial horizon and is celebrated worldwide by Iranian people everywhere as well as with some other ethno-linguistic peoples as the beginning of the New Year. It has been celebrated for over 3,000 years in the Black Sea Basin, the Caucasus, Central and Western Asia as well as the Balkans.

It marks the first day of Farvardin in the Iranian calendar

Although having Iranian and religious Zoroastrian origins, Nawruz is celebrated by many people from diverse ethno-linguistic communities of several different faiths for thousands of years but it remains a holy day for Zoroastrians.
