International Day of Rural Women recognises and honours the importance of rural women in enhancing agricultural and rural development worldwide and their role in society particularly in the field of economic improvement. Each year on 15th October events promoting global exchange programmes for women in agriculture and fundraising projects are initiated.
First Observed
The first International Day of Rural Women was observed on October 15, 2008.
It is the precursor to World Food Day held tomorrow on 16th October.
