The International Day of Older Persons recognises the contributions our senior citizens have made to our world. Such as any achievements they made which helped create our modern technological world today and our multicultural society as well as highlighting the issues affecting not only their lives now but also the effect the aging population has on the voluntary sector, healthcare and other government services.
The day came about when the UN adopted the Vienna International Plan of A ction on Agining was adopted by the world assembly in 1990.
