4th September is the Ancient Egyptian Ceremony of Transformation through Anubis (Anupu), the Jackel-headed ancient Egyptian God. Anubis is the illegitimate child of Nebt-Het (Nephthys), and was born of her union with Osiris (Asar). He was raised as the son of Set who was brother to Osiris.

Cast Out

Anubis was cast out when his actual lineage was discovered and he became a wanderer through the shadow-realm between life and death, and is associated with dark and lonely places. Anubis therefore bears witness to our shadow side, the darker side of mortality. He guards the Entrance to the Underworld, presided over by his father Osiris. Hence, all who die will find themselves in his presence whilst he escorts them away from this world and to the gates of the next.
